Tito Sotto Refutes Claims of Receiving Script

Tito Sotto Denies Script Allegations

Tito Sotto, former senator and TV host, strongly denied allegations that he or his brother, Vic Sotto, had received or read the script for Darryl Yap’s controversial film, “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.” The film, which tells the story of the late actress Pepsi Paloma, has sparked heated debates since its teaser release.

Clarification on Viva Communications

Tito clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that the script was sent to Vic del Rosario, the head of Viva Communications, and not to Vic Sotto. He firmly stated, “Not true. False. Vic nor I have ever read their script.”

Criticism of Media Accuracy

Tito also criticized media outlets for spreading inaccurate information, saying, “You should find out first if what you are reporting is accurate or not. Nakakahiya kumagat sa showbiz gimmick, mainstream pa naman kayo.” He added that Vic del Rosario rejected the project, effectively putting the film’s production into question.

Vic Sotto’s Legal Actions

Following the teaser trailer, Vic Sotto filed 19 cyber libel cases against Darryl Yap, accusing him of violating the Data Privacy Act and spreading false claims. Vic argued that his name was used without his consent and linked him maliciously to the rape case of Pepsi Paloma. He stressed, “This rape accusation is NOT TRUE. The case was dismissed, and the dissemination of this false information is misleading people.”

Darryl Yap’s Response

Atty. Raymond Fortun, representing Darryl Yap, countered that a script was sent to Vic Sotto for feedback but was ignored. “Direk Darryl followed up several times, but the scenes were already shot, so it’s no longer our responsibility,” the lawyer claimed.

Court Ruling and Gag Order

The legal battle has escalated, with the Muntinlupa RTC issuing a gag order on January 13 regarding Vic Sotto’s Petition for Writ of Habeas Data. The court noted that the film’s content remains unreleased and barred its disclosure to preserve the sub judice rule. The next hearing is set for January 17.
