Olympic boxer Eumir Marcial has spoken out to deny allegations of infidelity and physical abuse made by his wife, Princess Jenniel Galarpe Marcial.
In a video interview released by GMA News on January 11, 2025, Eumir firmly stated, “Hindi totoo lahat ng mga sinabi niya sa akin” (None of what she said about me is true).
The controversy began on January 10, 2025, when Princess accused Eumir on Facebook of cheating with a woman named Jessa. She claimed she caught them together in a Pasay condominium and even had Eumir jailed for five days. Princess also accused him of building a house in Zamboanga for Jessa and of physically abusing her throughout their 14-year marriage.
Eumir denied the allegations, explaining that the physical harm Princess mentioned was the result of self-defense. According to him, “I only acted to protect myself because she was hurting me.” He also questioned why, despite her accusations, Princess wanted to reconcile with him.
Regarding the alleged affair, Eumir clarified that Jessa was merely a friend from Zamboanga whom he helped retrieve a misplaced wallet. He denied any inappropriate actions and refuted claims of being caught in the act.
“She made up stories because she’s angry. There was no infidelity. I went to help her get her wallet back, and Princess and her family assaulted her,” Eumir explained.
On the issue of his incarceration, Eumir said Princess filed a concubinage case against him, which was later withdrawn. However, due to bad weather, he remained in custody for several days.
Eumir also denied taking money from their shared account to build a house for Jessa, emphasizing that “all our properties and accounts are under her name.”
The boxer admitted their relationship had been troubled for years, and even after the Olympics in August 2024, they were no longer living as a couple. He questioned why Princess brought their private matters to the media instead of settling them amicably.
“This is a personal issue. Why does it have to be made public? I offered to settle things peacefully, but she chose to sensationalize it,” Eumir said.
He ended his statement by calling for fairness and the truth to prevail.
